First linear accelerator arrives at the BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North

On March 14, the first of two linear accelerators arrived at the BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North, as part of a shipment containing more than 30 separate pieces. The machines will be used to deliver radiation therapy in cancer treatment, which will be provided in the North for the first time when the new centre opens in late 2012. Radiation therapy is part of curative cancer treatment or symptom relief and is received by about 60 per cent of patients diagnosed with cancer in B.C. each year.
